Toronto – August 6, 2013 – UFCW Canada activists, friends and supporters once again joined more than a million spectators, masqueraders, and community members for this year’s Toronto Caribbean Carnival Parade, also known as Caribana, held on Saturday, August 3.

Started in 1967, Toronto’s Caribana festival has become one of North America’s largest cultural celebrations, welcoming local revellers and tourists from around the world to participate in three weeks of festivities, including a world-famous parade, where UFCW Canada is centre stage with community partner: the Louis Saldenah Mas-K band.

Over the past eight years, UFCW Canada has become the labour movement’s leading presence at Caribana – one of Canada’s largest cultural events – through activist efforts at the parade and other Local Union initiatives like Summer Splash.
