Aramark-Kinosis members in Alberta oil sands region ratify new contract
Kinosis, Alta. – August 3, 2013 – After a long run of negotiations, UFCW Canada Local 401 members at Aramark-Kinosis in northern Alberta recently won a new union contract. The Aramark-Kinosis members work in the province’s booming oil sands region, where Local 401 is helping thousands of hospitality and food services workers to improve their lives and working conditions by joining UFCW Canada.
With their new contract, the Aramark-Kinosis members gained a number of benefits, including:
- language to guarantee respect and dignity on the job, including the expectation of a safe and secure work environment, and a workplace free from intimidation, harassment, and unsafe practices.
- wage increases and the implementation of a travel allowance, plus improvements to employer paid benefits: to better enable Aramark-Kinosis members to maintain a comfortable standard of living.
- bereavement leave that provides an employee with time and ability to grieve for lost loved ones.
- language to ensure the union and its representatives have at least sixty minutes during the orientation process to welcome new members and have a conversation about the UFCW Canada advantage.
