Attention UFCW Members: Deadline for $8,000 International Scholarship June 15
Toronto – June 4, 2013 – Attention all UFCW Canada members in a full-time post-secondary program: the deadline for the UFCW International Scholarship is coming up on Saturday, June 15, 2013. Every year, the union awards the International Scholarship to UFCW members and the children of active members (who are also eligible to apply if they are unmarried and under the age of 20 on May 31, 2013).
Two Canadian members will be among those selected, with prizes of up to $8,000 each paid out at $2,000 per year for up to four years of qualifying post-secondary study. The scholarship winners will be selected and awards made on the basis of scholastic achievements, community involvement, and the completion of an essay showing an understanding of the principles of the labour movement.
