Retail workers at McNally Robinson vote “YES!” to new contract – UFCW 1400
Saskatoon, Sask. – September 2, 2026 – UFCW Local 1400 members have unanimously said yes to ratifying a new collective agreement that delivers wage increases, improved bereavement leave, new service recognition, and other important gains for workers at independent bookseller McNally Robinson.
The new agreement covers the 33-member bargaining unit at McNally Robinson’s Saskatoon location, with members voting 100 per cent in favour of the tentative agreement on August 23, 2026.
McNally Robinson is an independent Canadian bookseller with stores in the Prairies and has been a valued part of its local communities for decades. Members at the Saskatoon store have been represented by UFCW since 2007.
The new collective agreement includes improvements to bereavement leave and an appreciation bonus for employees who reach 10 years of employment. Members will also receive a signing bonus of $375 for full-time employees and $200 for part-time employees.
The agreement delivers immediate retroactive wage increases of 45 cents per hour for most employees, followed by additional increases of 45 cents in October 2026, 50 cents in October 2027, and 50 cents in October 2028. The increases represent approximately three per cent on average. An additional pay-grade step has also been added to the Grade 1 classification.
