Food processing workers ratify new contract – UFCW 1006A
Mississauga, Ont. – July 17, 2026 – UFCW 1006A members at the Maple Leaf Foods canning plant in Mississauga ratified a new four-year union contract with strong gains.
Highlights include wage increases, benefits improvements, increases to the safety shoe allowance, pension plan improvements, and more.
“Our members demonstrated tremendous solidarity and strength in achieving a fair union contract with all gains and no concessions,” said UFCW 1006A President Wayne Hanley. “The negotiating committee did an outstanding job in advocating for the membership by negotiating strong improvements.”
