Members at Recycan achieve new contract – UFCW 1991-P
Repentigny, Que. – July 8, 2026 – UFCW Canada Local 1991-P members working at Recycan Inc. have achieved a new collective agreement that delivers improvements to wages, pensions, premiums, and more.
Recycan Inc. is a Montreal-based company specializing in the recycling of returnable containers.
The new five-year agreement includes the following improvements:
- Wage increases of 7.5% to 12% upon ratification, for a total increase of 17.5% to 22% over the life of the agreement, along with a 1% signing bonus;
- Two additional floating holidays;
- Increased allowances for work boots and gloves;
- Higher night shift and semi-trailer driver premiums;
- Improvements to the pension plan; and
- Retention of all existing benefits.
“This renewal is proof of the negotiation committee’s hard work and dedication, as well as the solidarity shown by our members,” says Janick Vallières, President of UFCW Local 1991-P. “The gains achieved reflect the value of the work these members perform every day, helping recover returnable containers throughout the Montréal region. UFCW Local 1991-P represents more than 6,500 members across nearly 80 workplaces and is part of the largest food and retail union in Quebec.
