Veterinary workers ratify first contract – UFCW 1252
Mount Pearl, N.L. – June 22, 2026 – UFCW Local 1252 members at Sunrise Animal Hospital have voted to ratify their first collective agreement, following the successful organizing campaign last year.
This milestone agreement delivers significant gains for workers and establishes important workplace protections and standards for the veterinary support staff who play a vital role in caring for animals and supporting clients every day.
Highlights of this first agreement includes wage increases, wage transparency, ratification bonuses, scheduling protections and more.
The agreement further strengthens workplace rights through paid holidays, improved vacation language, paid inclement weather closures for scheduled employees, progressive discipline protections, steward representation rights, and a formal grievance and arbitration procedure.
