Early childhood educators join union – UFCW 1252
St. John’s – June 15, 2026 – Early Childhood Educators at Lilypad Childhood Centre in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador have voted 85 per cent in favour of joining UFCW Local 1252.
By joining UFCW Local 1252, these workers have taken a significant step toward having a stronger voice in their workplace and advocating collectively for the respect they deserve.
The members will soon begin the bargaining process, where they will work toward securing fair wages, improved working conditions and access to a fair grievance procedure.
Their decision to unionize reflects a commitment to supporting one another and building a better future for themselves, their coworkers, and the profession.
