Security guards join union – UFCW 1006A
Toronto – June 5, 2026 – Security guards and dispatchers, working for Cadillac Fairview Corporation, have voted to join UFCW 1006A.
The bargaining unit consists of 15 members working at the Fairview Mall in Toronto.
The key issues, which led the security guards to seek unionization, included job security, safety, wages and benefits.
“Our union has a strong track record of helping security guards transform their workplace for the better,” says UFCW Local 1006A President Wayne Hanley. “When workers come together for each other, they can achieve great things.”
One security guard, who voted for unionization, said: "The workplace has been in a transition and there have been a lot of uncertainties from the employer and we wanted to have someone who was there to represent us and help us through this tough time and in the future."
