Members at Westin Montreal achieve new collective agreement – UFCW 501
Montreal – February 11, 2026 – UFCW Canada Local 501 members working at the world-renowned Westin Montreal have recently ratified a new collective agreement bringing wage increases, language improvements, and more.
The new agreement delivers a total wage increase of 21% over four years—starting with a 10% raise in April 2026, followed by increases of 4% in 2027, 3% in 2028, and another 4% in 2029. As a result, hourly wages will rise to $30.51 for dishwashers, $31.97 for hostesses, and $38.67 for first cooks as of 2026.
Members also gain improved time off: workers with 19 years of service now qualify for a sixth week of vacation, equal to 12%. The agreement also maintains a fifth floating holiday and nine paid sick days each year.

Additional gains include increases to banquet service charges, which will be gradually raised to 14.25% by 2028. The employer will fund 65% of the group insurance plan, with members contributing 35%. Employer contributions to members’ RRSPs will increase to 7.5% in 2026 and 8% in 2027.
“This agreement clearly reflects the priorities raised by members and the seriousness of the work done at the bargaining table,” said André Gingras, UFCW 501 negotiator. “The strong vote in favour shows members’ confidence in the gains achieved.”
The agreement applies to UFCW 501 members working in the banquets, restaurant, bar, room service, kitchen, and maintenance departments.
