Introducing the UFCW National Education Survey
September 16, 2025 – Toronto – UFCW Canada is proud to launch the UFCW National Education Survey, in order for members to share their experiences with workplace learning and contribute to the future of union education.
Education is a powerful tool for strengthening workers and empowering union members. UFCW Canada wants to hear from our members – what challenges are faced at work, and how can education help? These insights will help our union shape training that supports workers.
This survey is designed to hear from UFCW members on the following topics:
- Union-based education: UFCW Canada is committed to providing meaningful training and education that empowers workers, and we want to hear from members on the courses we offer, how they support workplace rights, and what types of courses members would like to see in the future.
- Learning Preferences: We know that learning is most effective when it aligns with individual preferences and want to explore how participants learn best. This input will influence more accessible and effective learning opportunities
- Workplace Training: participants’ input is essential in assessing the effectiveness of company-provided training, and to explore key areas like company culture, technology, access to learning, plus diversity and inclusion
Education cannot be “one size fits all.” UFCW Canada recognizes that members work in diverse sectors and come from many different backgrounds. Training and support must reflect that diversity and ensure every worker has access to opportunities that strengthen skills and protect rights.

The information collected will allow UFCW Canada to design education and training that respond to actual challenges, advocate for stronger supports from employers and governments, and build more accessibility into learning opportunities.
The survey can be accessed in both English and French and takes just 10 minutes to complete. All responses are kept anonymous and once completed, all respondents become eligible to enter a draw for a $50 grocery retail gift card.
By entering contact information, participants provide permission to be contacted by UFCW Canada for any focus group or other initiative that may flow from the survey findings.
