Canna Cabana Rideau Street workers join UFCW Local 175
Ottawa – July 25, 2025 –UFCW is happy to welcome more Canna Cabana members from Ottawa as the employees at a Rideau Street location join UFCW Local 175.
A few weeks ago, employees at the Canna Cabana on Clarence Street in Ottawa joined UFCW Local 175. And now, their fellow employees at the Rideau Street location have also voted to join the union.
“UFCW Local 175 was the first union to certify retail cannabis workers in Ontario back in 2020,” said UFCW 175 President Kelly Tosato. “With a lot of growth and shifts in this industry, employees in many retail locations have found that being a part of Local 175 goes a long way to ensuring their voices are heard.”
Much like their colleagues at other retail cannabis locations, the employees at Canna Cabana Rideau Street wanted to secure the right to bargain together and benefit from the protections of a union collective agreement. From wage improvements to consistent hours, better job security, fair treatment, and more, with UFCW representing them, these workers will now move forward as a unified group to build a better work life.
The next step is for members to meet and put forth proposals as they begin negotiations for their first collective agreement. Read more about the organizing victory at Canna Cabana Rideau Street.
UFCW Locals 175 & 633 represents more than 70,000 working people across all sectors of the Ontario economy including hospitality and services, health care, retail grocery and pharmacy, food production, meat processing, manufacturing, packaging, and more.
