Nursing Home Workers Join Union – UFCW 175 & 633

Puslinch, Ont. – February 19, 2025 – In a significant move towards achieving better working conditions, workers at Morriston Park Nursing Home in Puslinch have voted to join UFCW Local 175. The decision reflects a growing trend among healthcare employees who are looking to UFCW to fight for fair wages, improved benefits, and safer working environments.
“Many healthcare workers deal with chronic understaffing, low wages, and inadequate benefits. These are some of the key reasons workers in the healthcare field are increasingly looking for union representation. The COVID-19 pandemic further highlighted these and other struggles faced by healthcare workers including long hours, insufficient personal protective equipment, and heightened workplace stress,” said UFCW 175 President Kelly Tosato.
These workers want to know their labour and dedication is valued and supported. By unionizing with UFCW Local 175, they will be able to negotiate a strong contract to build a better work life. The new members have joined the growing Health, Office & Professional Employees (HOPE) Sector of UFCW Local 175
