Members at Chubb Fire and Security Canada achieve new collective agreement – UFCW 1006A
Vaughan, Ont. – December 2, 2024 – UFCW 1006A members working as fire alarm technicians at Chubb Fire and Security Canada have ratified a new union contract, securing important gains for workers.
"I thought we came out of it pretty good considering the changes that the company was looking for,” said UFCW 1006A member Brent Timleck. "We bargained very hard and the contract we got was a good one.”
UFCW 1006A President Wayne Hanley expressed pride in the negotiating committee's efforts. “On behalf of UFCW 1006A, I am proud to congratulate our negotiating committee for a job well done,” said Hanley. “UFCW 1006A continues to be Ontario’s number one union for workers seeking fairness at work.”
The new contract includes several key improvements for workers, including:
- Wage increases for all classifications.
- Increased shift premiums to better compensate workers for irregular hours.
- Improved vacation language that provides better time-off provisions.
- Increased protections to prevent work from being assigned outside of their region.
- Preservation of the current pension plan, ensuring long-term security for workers.
