Ancaster, Ont. – October 2, 2023 – UFCW 1006A is proud to welcome its newest members from Swiss Chalet in Ancaster as workers at the store have voted to join the union. UFCW Local 1006A represents workers at close to 45 restaurants across Ontario.

“We are proud to be union for Swiss Chalet workers and are excited to welcome our newest members from Ancaster to the union family,” said UFCW 1006A President Wayne Hanley. “We look forward to working with our members to improve their rights and livelihoods now and into the future.”

Key issues included seniority concerns, change in restaurant ownership (from franchise to corporate) and members wanting to be included under the existing union collective agreement with Swiss Chalet.

Members at Swiss Chalet work in a variety of roles including servers, hosts, cooks, and dishwashers.
