Toronto – September 9, 2022 – From coast-to-coast UFCW Canada activists celebrated solidarity and resilience with the return of in-person labour day festivities for the first time in three years.
In communities large and small, in unique and diverse ways, union activists lived up to the spirit of labour day across the country by coming together in display of the strength and resilience that makes the labour movement a powerful force for change in society.
Members showed up in Edmonton to feed the homeless in an expression of solidarity with those hardest hit by the current economic fallout. In Halifax, Hamilton, Kitchener—Waterloo, Sudbury and Toronto members took to the streets, sharing their voice with thousands of others to call for paid sick days, pay equity and supports amidst soaring costs of living.
Labour Day continues to be a renewed call to action for a secure future where all workers benefit from shared prosperity and equal opportunity.
