Grocery workers at Zero Waste Bulk join the union – UFCW 175 & 633
Waterloo, Ont. – July 30, 2021 – Grocery workers at Zero Waste Bulk in Waterloo, Ontario are the newest members of UFCW 175 & 633 after voting 100% in favour of joining the union.
Workers at Zero Waste Bulk decided to form a union to address issues surrounding wages, scheduling, transparency and to improve health and safety on the job.
In addition, these essential workers are often understaffed, staying late to close without added compensation. Work-life balance issues came to ahead in the lead up to the organizing campaign with workers finding it difficult to plan around uncertain shifts.
The new members hope to address these and other issues when bargaining begins.
