BDM Scholarship helps member balance the stresses of work and school – UFCW 1006A

Ottawa – May 20, 2021 – As a busy working student, Mikylo Odut is thankful to be the latest recipient of the $1,000 prize awarded to members and their family through UFCW Canada’s BDM Scholarship .

He acknowledges the stress of working while maintaining a full course load as a student of classical music at the University of Ottawa.

“The stresses of impending loans, rent and tuition can be uncertain,” says Mikylo Odut, UFCW 1006A member. “The realization that my union not only ensures students are fairly represented in the workplace but offers financial supports for their studies makes me proud to be a member.”

The UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship offers a total of $18,000 in scholarships to UFCW Canada members and their families and is one of more than 25 union scholarships available to members and their families every year, totaling more than $300,000 in support.
