Toronto – March 15, 2021 – UFCW Canada recently hosted its inaugural Women and Racialized Leaders Institute with a virtual convening of nearly 40 delegates.
The leadership institute is a product of UFCW Canada National Council commitment to supporting the advancement of women and racialized peoples into leaderships roles across the union. The leaders institute provides a space for women and racialized leaders to meet and exchange ideas, problem solve and learn in a mutually supportive environment.
This year’s keynote was provided by Bea Bruske, UFCW 832 Secretary-Treasurer and leader of Team Unite CLC 2021. Other speakers included Mohammed Hashim, Executive Director, Canadian Race Relations Foundation and Susanne Skidmore, Secretary-Treasurer, BC Federation of Labour.
Delegates examined leadership assumptions while exploring the style and traits of leaders who operate under the principles of diversity and inclusion. To learn more about UFCW Canada’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, visit our website.
