UFCW Canada launches ground-breaking Equity Grant Program

Toronto – December 16, 2020 – UFCW Canada is proud to announce the launch of our ground-breaking Equity Grant Program. The new program builds on our union’s longstanding efforts to support the work of UFCW members and the communities they serve.

The Equity Grant Program aims to support newcomer programs, human rights initiatives, and community action projects by providing a total of three annual grants – worth $1,000 each – that will be available to all UFCW Canada members and allies between January 1, 2021 and May 1, 2021. Recipients will be announced shortly after the May 1 deadline.

Prospective applicants will have the ability to apply under one of three different streams, including the Newcomer/Immigration Stream, the Human Rights Stream, and the Community Action Stream.

Applicants are encouraged to supply a fun and creative 250-word description, or a short video, explaining what they will do and how they will use the grant money if they are named a recipient of the UFCW Canada Equity Grant Program.
