Health care members at Cooperative Home Services LSJE secure gains – UFCW 501
Alma, Que. — October 22, 2020 — After a difficult negotiation process requiring a dozen meetings and conciliation, UFCW Local 501 members working at Cooperative Home Services Lac-Saint-Jean Est (LSJE) have achieved a new collective agreement that provides better wages, additional vacation time, and more.
The new three-year contract includes wage increases that range from 3 to 24.96 percent in the first year of the agreement, depending on an employee’s position, as well as a 2 percent increase in all wage grades for the other two years. In addition, as of April 1, 2021, all employees with 20 or more years of service are entitled to a sixth week of vacation with a 12 percent indemnity. Elsewhere, the travel allowance will increase to $0.52 per kilometer and income maintenance will also improve.
“I would like to congratulate and thank the members at the Cooperative for their excellent work during the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Daniel Nadeau, UFCW 501 Eastern Quebec Director. “Despite a difficult context for negotiations, members have been working hard to maintain an optimal quality of care and services for their clients. We want members to know that UFCW 501 will continue to be at your side to meet your needs during the term of your collective agreement and beyond," he adds.
