UFCW 401 members talk progressive politics ahead of Alberta election

Calgary – April 3, 2019 – Following the successful “It’s Yours Members’ Conference,” where hundreds of UFCW Local 401 activists gathered in Calgary to explore community activism, political engagement, and how to bring about positive change, teams of UFCW 401 activists hit the doorsteps of fellow members to discuss the Alberta election, scheduled for April 16.

Activists in Edmonton and Calgary, who are members of the UFCW 401 Positive Community Action Committee, went door-to-door to talk about progressive politics with other members, and to explain why Rachel Notley’s NDP government deserves to be re-elected.

“These amazing community organizers and activists are on members’ doorsteps talking about the importance of electing a labour-friendly government on April 16,”  says UFCW 401 Labour Relations Officer David Smith. “It’s an exciting time to be a union member,” he adds.

To date, all teams report that they are having a blast at the doorstep.

“We are having fun talking to members in person,” says UFCW 401 member Timothy.

“Talking one on one with members about the things that matter most to them is very powerful,” says member Matthew.
