My webCampusPLUS Experience: Cindy Samson, UFCW 175
Thorold, Ont. – October 10, 2018 – UFCW Canada members across the country are raving about the union's ground-breaking online education program, webCampusPLUS, which offers free online courses to all UFCW Canada members, their family members, and community partners.
Many UFCW Canada members and allies take webCampusPLUS courses out of personal interest, while others see them as a way to develop their knowledge and professional skills.
Cindy Samson is a proud UFCW Canada Local 175 member who works at the Cobblestone Gardens Retirement Residence in Thorold, Ontario. She recently earned a Human Rights Advocate Certificate through the webCampusPLUS program, completing over one dozen courses in the process.
Sister Samson had the following to say about her experience with webCampusPLUS:
“This certificate has aligned with my goals in two ways. I wanted to be a sounding board for my residents and allow for their voices to be heard, and this program has taught me how to achieve that. Since completing the certificate, residents have been discussing their issues and human rights violations with me, which I have in turn brought to the attention of management. I also assist the union representatives by offering suggestions and solutions to problems when I hear of injustices that take place at work. I want to thank UFCW Canada for offering such an amazing program to members and their families!”
For the month of October, webCampusPLUS is excited to announce five new courses that are available to UFCW Canada members and their family members. The new courses include:
- Mental Health Part One: The Mental Health Disconnect
- Mental Health Part Two: Focus on the Workplace
- Floral Design Part 3
- Globally Harmonized Systems (WHMIS)
- Everyday Leadership
