Quebec City and Saskatoon – October 5, 2017 – Red, gold, and white lanterns lit up the night sky in Quebec and Saskatchewan last week as activists from TUAC Local 500 and UFCW Canada Local 1400 came together for Light the Night walks in Quebec City and Saskatoon.

The Quebec City walk took place on September 30 with TUAC Local 500 activists and family members marching through the Parc de l’Esplanade, waving lanterns and raising more than $130,000 dollars for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC).

In Saskatoon, meanwhile, UFCW Canada Local 1400 activists walked through Kiwanis Memorial Park, raising hope and funds for the LLSC’s life-saving efforts to fight blood cancers.

The monies raised at Light the Night walks help fund LLSC programs aimed at generating awareness, providing patient and family services, and funding research into finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS).

Since adopting the LLSC as our union’s charity of choice in 1985, UFCW Canada members and staff have raised over $38 million for the LLSC.
