Vaughan and Mississauga, Ont. – August 29, 2016 – The 7th Annual Ride for a Cure fundraiser, held jointly by UFCW Canada Locals 175 & 633 and UFCW Canada Local 1006A recently raised approximately $7,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC).
A group of motorcycle enthusiasts and volunteers embarked on the annual ride which began at UFCW Canada Local 1006A's Vaughan, Ontario office and ended at UFCW Canada Locals 175 & 633’s office in Mississauga, Ontario. The annual event often draws members who are motorcycling enthusiasts from across the province.
"It's a great way to raise money to end leukemia," says Pred Gajic, a UFCW 1006A member who has participated in every ride since the event started. "It's nice to ride with all my brothers and sisters for such a worthy cause.”
To date, UFCW Canada local unions across the country have raised over $36 million in support of the life changing efforts of the LLSC. The money raised goes to research for finding a cure, and to raising awareness of leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and other blood cancers.
