Toronto – July 14, 2015 – Canada's most progressive union kicked off the 2015 Caribana season with the annual UFCW Canada Summer Splash in Toronto on July 11. Over 250 friends, family, and community partners joined together for a vibrant evening of music, dancing, and fundraising.

Continuing a noble tradition, all of the money raised at the event was donated to Faces of Our Children, an organization dedicated to sickle cell research and the adopted charity of the UFCW International Minority Coalition. Research for sickle cell anemia is particularly important to Caribbean communities in Canada and the United States.

The Summer Splash celebration provided an opportunity for event-goers to preview some of the elegant and colourful costumes for this year's Toronto Caribana parade. Every year, UFCW Canada participates in a number of Caribana events, culminating in a huge parade along Toronto's waterfront where UFCW Canada activists march, dance, jump, and wave with the award-winning Louis Saldenah Mas-K Club.

This year's Toronto Grand Caribana parade will be held on August 1. UFCW Canada members, officers, and staff are encouraged to join our union at the parade for a day full of fun and festivities.
