My webCampus Experience: Marco Gayoso, UFCW 247

My webCampus Experience: Marco Gayoso, UFCW 247Vancouver– September 4, 2014 – UFCW Canada members across the country are raving about the union's groundbreaking online education program, webCampus, which offers free online courses to all UFCW Canada members, their families, and community partners. Many UFCW Canada members take webCampus courses out of personal interest, while others see them as a way to develop their knowledge and professional skills.

Marco Gayoso is a UFCW Canada Local 247 member who works at a Loblaw grocery store in Vancouver, where he has been employed since 1993. He became interested in webCampus after reading a brochure about the program in his workplace lunchroom. Over the last three and a half years, Marco has taken a number of webCampus courses, and he recently decided to build on the knowledge that he obtained in those courses by completing a Labour Studies Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety from Mohawk College.

"When I showed my Labour Studies Certificate to some of my colleagues, they were quite impressed," says Marco. "This has been a very special experience for me, and I'm proud that all of my efforts have paid off. Thank you to UFCW Canada for offering such amazing opportunities to members," he adds.
