Tell the Bank of Montreal to stop bankrolling the attack on Infinity Rubber workers
UFCW Canada is calling on all activists to support their Brothers and Sisters from the United Steelworkers by telling the Bank of Montreal to stop bankrolling the attack on Infinity Rubber workers in Etobicoke, Ontario.
The Infinity Rubbers workers are proud members of USW Local 526L who went on strike over two years ago after the company demanded a 25% cut in wages and a 50% cut in benefits. Since then, the Infinity Rubber strike has become one of the longest work stoppages in the province’s history.
The Infinity Rubber workers have walked the picket line every day for more than two years, while replacement workers do their jobs and the company refuses all attempts to reach a fair compromise.
Despite the operation's troubled financial history and the ongoing strike, the workers were shocked to learn that the Bank of Montreal has given the Infinity Rubber group brand new financing.
The USW and its allies believe that BMO's financial support of this employer is directly responsible for prolonging the dispute.
