UFCW EPC joins thousands to celebrate PRIDE Halifax
Halifax – August 8, 2013 – UFCW Canada activists from across Nova Scotia, and throughout the Maritimes, recently gathered in Halifax to participate in the East Coast's largest PRIDE celebration.

Toronto – August 8, 2013 – Each year the United Nations' (UN) International Youth Day is observed on August 12th. This event was established in 2000 as a means of raising awareness of the issues affecting young people around the world. Now in its 13th year, IYD is part of the UN's broader World Programme of Action for Youth, an initiative that aims to promote the wellbeing and livelihood of young people through international action.
Whitchurch-Stouffville, Ont. – August 7, 2013 – Workers at Canadian Railcar Cleaners in the town of Whitchurch-Stouffville, Ontario are the newest members of Canada's best union after voting "Yes!" to joining UFCW Canada Local 206.
Toronto – August 6, 2013 – UFCW Canada activists, friends and supporters once again joined more than a million spectators, masqueraders, and community members for this year’s Toronto Caribbean Carnival Parade, also known as Caribana, held on Saturday, August 3.
Kinosis, Alta. – August 3, 2013 – After a long run of negotiations, UFCW Canada Local 401 members at Aramark-Kinosis in northern Alberta recently won a new union contract. The Aramark-Kinosis members work in the province’s booming oil sands region, where Local 401 is helping thousands of hospitality and food services workers to improve their lives and working conditions by joining UFCW Canada.
Toronto – August 2, 2013 – The results are in for five Ontario by-elections and little has changed as the Liberals keep their minority government and will continue to rely on the opposition parties for support. That said, the NDP now has a stronger voice in the legislature by winning two of the five Liberal seats that were up for grabs.
St. John’s, Nfld. – August 1, 2013 – Canada’s leading union, UFCW Canada, is calling on activists, friends, and supporters to boycott Anheuser-Busch InBev’s imported products. For more than three months, the Labatt’s Brewing Company (a subsidiary of transnational AB InBev) has forced its employees in St. John’s Newfoundland out on strike for basic fairness.
Toronto – August 1, 2013 – Every year, on 9 August, the world celebrates the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. This day was created to raise awareness of the rights of indigenous peoples worldwide, and honours the first meeting of the United Nations Working Group on Indigenous Populations held in Geneva on 9 August 9, 1982, that drafted the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
