More unions join UFCW Canada in supporting Thomas Mulcair for NDP Leader

On March 6, 2012, New Democratic Party (NDP) leadership candidate Thomas Mulcair met with UFCW Canada activists and members of the Retail Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU), the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) at the Quality Suites hotel in Toronto, Ontario. All four unions have formally endorsed Mr. Mulcair's campaign for the NDP leadership.

Another horrific accident kills four Filipino migrant workers

Just a month after the terrible Hampstead, Ontario tragedy, another highway collision involving migrant workers has claimed the lives of four Filipino migrant workers and left another seriously injured after a head-on collision on the Queen Elizabeth highway between Edmonton and Calgary. All five victims of the accident were employed as temporary foreign workers in Edmonton.

The CALM Awards are open to all members and associate members of the Canadian Association of Labour Media, and Local Unions are invited to submit their best print and electronic publications from last year to CALM before March 31, 2012.

UFCW Canada Local 1400 recently hosted a luncheon at its Education Centre in Saskatoon to introduce local union activists to New Democratic Party (NDP) leadership candidate Thomas Mulcair, who was officially endorsed by the union earlier this year.
