The Personal Cost of Injury*

· 61% of injured workers were unemployed after injury

· Poverty rate among injured workers in Ontario more than double than the general population

· Nearly one in five injured workers (18%)  on social assistance

· About 20% of respondents lost their home after injury

· 41%  percent of injured workers had an annual income of less than $15,000.

· 64% of injured workers reported that they had used food banks

· One in five injured workers reported family breakdown in the wake of the injury
