Food service workers at Pearson Airport join the union, UFCW Local 206

Food service workers at Pearson Airport join the union, UFCW Local 206Toronto – May 16, 2014 – More than 300 employees of OTG have voted overwhelmingly in favour of joining UFCW Canada Local 206. The employees work in a variety of restaurants at Pearson International Airport in Toronto.

Local 206 represents hundreds of workers employed by Compass Group, Host and SSP – three other companies which operate restaurants at the airport. With the victory at OTG, UFCW Canada now represents nearly all food service workers at the country’s largest airport. OTG workers contacted Canada’s leading union to gain the benefits of belonging to Local 206, including annual wage increases, a pension plan, paid parking and job security.

“Congratulations to our new members at OTG,” says Wayne Hanley, UFCW Canada Local 206 President. “Our union is proud of these workers for being so united and determined in making OTG a better employer.”
