UFCW delegates unanimously vote to support Team Win Together

Montreal – May 5, 2014 – Representing one of the union’s largest delegations in Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) history, UFCW Canada activists from across the country gathered yesterday for their caucus meeting at the CLC Convention in Montreal to discuss priorities and coordinate efforts for the five-day conference.

The UFCW delegates enthusiastically welcomed Team Win Together – which consists of Ken Georgetti for CLC President; Nathalie Stringer for CLC Secretary Treasurer; Laurie Antonin for Executive Vice President; and Kelly Murphy for Executive Vice President – and voted unanimously to support the Team as the best choice for moving the Congress forward, and building on the momentum of groundbreaking campaigns like Together Fairness Works, Re-Think Child Care, Retirement Security for Everyone, Municipalities Matter, and others.

"With Team Win Together, the labour movement in Canada has a strong plan for the present and the future that is based on building member-to-member engagement, collective action, and positive recognition for the essential role that unions play in creating fairness and social justice for all workers and their communities,” says UFCW Canada National President Paul Meinema.

The UFCW activists also dedicated their caucus meeting to organizing the union’s presence at the UFCW information booth (located in Room 220e), where a large selection of resources and the award-winning “100 Years of Solidarity” CD are freely available to all delegates, observers, and honoured guests attending the convention.
