Workers at Marché Végétarien in Trois-Rivières ratify new contractTrois-Rivières, Que. – March 3, 2014 – UFCW Canada Local 509 (TUAC 509) members at the Marché Végétarien grocery store in Trois-Rivières, Quebec recently approved the agreement-in-principle reached between their bargaining committee and employer for a new, four-year collective agreement.

With this contract, the thirty-plus Marché Végétarien employees will receive a 6 percent wage increase every year, while workers at the top of the pay range will see wage increases of 2.3 percent. The Local 509 union members also won a reduction in the hours required for each pay level and will receive an additional eight hours of time off for 2016 and 2017.

''We are very pleased with the outcome of these negotiations," says UFCW Canada Local 509 President Daniel Nadeau. "The bargaining committee did an excellent job of negotiating a fair and competitive collective agreement that will preserve good jobs in the Mauricie Region,'' he adds.
