Remembrance Day – November 11, 2013

Remembrance day november 11

Ottawa – November 7, 2013 – On November 11, 1918 at 11 a.m., the First World War drew to a close with the signing of an armistice agreement that brought an end to the hostilities.

Each year since, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, people across Canada stand together as a community to honour and remember the more than one million Canadian military servicemen and women who went to war to protect our freedom.

Of them, more than 100,000 Canadian military personnel have died in action since 1914 — making the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. This November 11th on Remembrance Day, let us honour our brothers and sisters in military service by acknowledging their courage and sacrifice, and by cherishing the peace we live in.

To help commemorate Remembrance Day, a special Remembrance Day poster is also now available to all for download, printing, as well as sharing with your friend social networks.
