Saskatoon, Sask. - October 20, 2013 - A team of UFCW Canada Local 1400 activists and family members recently joined 500 hundred other participants for the Light the Night walk in Saskatoon. In total, the fundraiser in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC), raised over $212,000 to fund research into finding a cure and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers.

The UFCW activists and other community members carried light-filled balloons in a five kilometre twilight walk along the banks of the South Saskatchewan River. The efforts of the UFCW Saskatchewan team pushed Local 1400's total LLSC/ Light the Night 2013 fundraising efforts to date to just over $45,630.

Local 1400 organizes a number of LLSC fundraising events throughout the year, including two golf tournaments, a Laps for Life go-cart racing championship (see Directions 13.54), a Rider Prider Saskatoon Roughriders charter, and proceeds from a number of fundraising barbeques.
