As part of the Walking Parade, UFCW SPC activists waved signs announcing this year’s fundraising goal and the United Way’s motto – Change Starts Here. A breakfast and program sponsored by UFCW SPC followed the fun-filled event.

The program included greetings from the City and the unveiling of a new United Way website, social media platforms and a promotional video. The video told the important story of a local man directly impacted by United Way of Saskatoon and Area initiatives.

“The United Way of Saskatoon is doing outstanding work for the community and we are very happy and proud to participate in this important event, and to call the Unite Way our community ally,” said Local 1400 Secretary-Treasurer Darren Kurmey. “Like UFCW, the United Way is all about improving lives and building up communities by bringing people together to work as one for greater opportunity and fairness.”

Nationally, UFCW Canada is one of the United Way’s leading fundraisers and contributors, earned the prestigious “Thanks A Million” Award for several years standing.
