Remember to Donate Your Empties to this year’s Bottle Drive May 25th & 26th

donate your empties for leukemia bottle drive local 12R24Toronto – May 17, 2013 – Across Ontario, UFCW Canada Local 12R24 members look forward to welcoming you and your support for blood cancer research on the weekend of May 25th for the annual Returns for Leukemia bottle drive.

A combined effort of Local 12R24 and The Beer Store, Returns for Leukemia is the hugely successful bottle drive where donations of customers' bottle deposits go directly to support the research efforts of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC).

Last year's event raised an astounding $1,668,012 for the LLSC, as part of UFCW Canada's annual fundraising for research into a cure and more effective treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease, and other forms of blood cancers.

This year’s Returns for Leukemia will be held on May 25th and 26th at Beers Stores across the province. Throughout the weekend following the May 20th Victoria Day holiday, customers will be invited to donate their empty bottles or cash to this important cause – with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to the LLSC.

In addition to donating your empties, UFCW Canada members, families, and friends in Ontario can also donate their time as volunteers to assist in greeting customers and collecting their empties on May 25th and 26th. Volunteers are needed on the Saturday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and the Sunday between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m.
