Montreal – April 17, 2013 – Compo Recycle employees in the Quebec region of Chertsey are now the newest members of UFCW Canada Local 501 after a majority of the workers supported unionizing. Compo Recycle offers a variety of services in Quebec’s waste management sector.

Compo Recycle workers are now empowered with the full support of 50,000 UFCW members in Quebec, and more than 250,000 members throughout the country.

"We are very pleased to welcome and represent the Compo Recycle employees,” says Local 501 President Alain Lachaîne. “By joining Local 501, they now have the full support of Quebec’s leading voice for workers, and they are now in a much stronger position to gain fairness in the workplace, and to bargain for higher employment standards in their industry. They can always count on the full support of their Sisters and Brothers in Local 501, and throughout the UFCW family.”
