2012 BDM Union Scholarships Winner: Nancy Dai, Local 333

BDM union scholarshipToronto – March 27, 2013 – Nancy Dai is one of 18 Beggs-Dowling-Mathieu (BDM) Union Scholarships winners for 2012. Sister Dai is the daughter of proud UFCW Canada Local 333 Member and Shop Steward Xiao Yan Ren, who works at the Intercontinental Hotel in Toronto.

"I'm very grateful for the UFCW Canada BDM Scholarship Award. I'm attending a toxicology symposium as a result. It's going to help me complete my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and ease my transition into a Master's in Toxicology. Thank you UFCW Canada for this important, life-changing union scholarship!" says Nancy, who is currently studying at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario.  

Nancy was recently presented with the $1,000 union scholarship cheque by Jon O’Connor, Local 333 Vice President, who is pictured right with Nancy and Helen Bansil, a leading activist and housekeeping shop steward at the Intercontinental. 

Every year UFCW Canada offers a total of 18 annual BDM scholarships of $1,000 each to members, their spouses, and dependants for post secondary study.
