Food processing members at Bunge Canada achieve new agreement – UFCW 248P
Nipawin, Sask. – June 4, 2021 – UFCW 248P members at Bunge Canada in Nipawin, Saskatchewan have voted to ratify a new union contract with strong improvements for all members.
The new contract includes a 2.75 percent wage increase in each of the three-year agreement along with improvements to benefits, clothing allowance and prescription safety glasses. New language was also included for cross-plant certification and stand-by pay for maintenance staff.
“We take pride in this collective agreement negotiated by the bargaining committee,” says Pat Horbay, UFCW 248P President. “I personally thank every member for their participation in the ratification process, persevering through this pandemic. We are all proud of the work you have accomplished.”
Along with Bunge Canada members in Manitoba and Ontario, these UFCW Local 248P members in Nipawin produce much of the country’s canola oil and related byproducts.
