2012 BDM Scholarship Winner: Tyrone Hofer, Local 832
Winnipeg – February 26, 2013 – Tyrone Hofer is one of the 18 BDM Scholarships recipients for 2012. Brother Hofer is a proud member of UFCW Canada Local 832 who works at the Real Canadian Superstore in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude and thanks to the UFCW Canada for the Beggs-Dowling-Mathieu Scholarship of $1,000.00,” says Tyrone, picture receiving his award from Local 832 President Jeff Traeger. “This scholarship makes me feel immensely proud and fortunate to be represented by a union that values a post-secondary education and assists students in need of funds.”
Brother Hofer attends Canadian Mennonite University where he is a first-year Business student, with a minor in music.
“The Beggs-Dowling-Mathieu Scholarship has caused me to breathe a sigh of relief and has alleviated a lot of the stress,” adds Tyrone.
Every year UFCW Canada offers a total of 18 annual BDM scholarships of $1,000 each to members, their spouses, and dependants for post secondary study.
