webCampus launches new On-the-Go, Digital Skills courses for Fall 2020
Toronto – September 8, 2020 – UFCW Canada's ground-breaking online education program, webCampus, is launching a range of new On-the-Go, Digital Skills, and core webCampus courses that can help you gain more knowledge and acquire new skills for the fall season.
The free online courses are being offered in English and are described as follows:
PPE – The Last Line of Defense (On-The-Go): You might have heard a lot of people mention “PPE.” Perhaps you heard about it on the news, or you might have family who need to use it. But what is personal protective equipment? And why is it important? Here's everything you need to know about personal protective equipment (PPE) in 15 minutes or less.
Basic Health & Safety Rights (On-The-Go): Workers are afforded basic and important rights to ensure that they have the knowledge needed to be safe on the job and the freedom to participate in health and safety activities in their workplace. This On-the-Go course reviews these basic rights in 15 minutes or less.
Money Matters (On-The-Go): Have you ever wondered why some people are so good with their money and others are not? Most likely, someone taught them how to manage their money so that they can create the life they want. Most of us weren’t born knowing how to naturally manage our money. Our parents didn’t likely discuss money let alone teach us to manage it, and it wasn’t part of the curriculum when we were in school, so we often learn the hard way. However, here’s the good news – money skills can be learned by anyone. This On-the-Go course can help you organize your financial goals in 15 minutes or less.
Retirement & Me (On-The-Go): As you approach your retirement, there are many decisions worth considering for the next phase of your life. Figuring out your retirement is one of those decisions, and this On-The-Go module can help you with the process.
MS Word 2019 – Beginner (Digital Skills): This course is designed to introduce students to the basic functionality and user interface of Microsoft Word 2019. In this course, you will gain fundamental skills like formatting text, preparing to publish your document, adding tables, inserting graphics, and other skills that will help you work more efficiently in Word 2019.
Together Fairness Works: Often governments try to convince us that they have all the answers. But for many Canadian workers, life gets tougher all the time. This doesn’t sound fair. This course examines factors that prevent and encourage a ‘fair’ workplace and society.
Culinary Skills – Breadmaking & The Science Behind It: Understanding the fundamentals of breadmaking can help you better understand both the food industry and bakeries in particular. Whether you are a home cook, or you are looking to work in the bakery industry, this course will provide you with the fundamental skills needed to bake bread. It also offers tips for breadmaking at home and in a commercial setting.
