Janitorial members at Impact Cleaning Services negotiate wage increases – UFCW 175
Toronto – June 18, 2020 – Janitorial members at Impact Cleaning Services in Toronto have negotiated a new union contract that provides wage increases, an extra bereavement day, and more.
Under the new collective agreement, members working in Light Duties will receive wage increases totaling $1 per hour over the contract term. Employees working in Heavy Duty jobs will gain an additional 80 cents per hour over three years, while Red-Circled employees will see a 2 percent wage increase. Members also successfully achieved an increase of 2 percent to vacation pay for employees with 12 years of service.
Employer contributions to the workers’ dental plan will increase by two cents per hour worked in year one, and by one cent per hour worked in years two and three.
Other improvements for members at Impact Cleaning Services include:
- An extra paid bereavement day;
- 15 minutes of paid time for stewards to provide orientation to new employees; and,
- Pay equity language.
Members ratified the three-year contract unanimously in mid-June. The Union Negotiating Committee consisted of Member Anh Thi Tuyet and Union Representative Ali Farman.
