Health care members at Le Quartier St-Jean win first contract – UFCW 1991P
Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que. – February 6, 2020 – UFCW Local 1991P members working as nursing assistants and maintenance staff at the Quartier St-Jean seniors’ home have achieved their first union contract.
The new collective agreement improves working conditions in several ways, thanks to the following changes:
- Introducing a clear process for overtime;
- Adding personal leave days;
- Introducing lead hand premiums and premiums for evening and night shifts;
- Making work schedules better; and
- Increasing wages by an average of 2.5 percent.
“Congratulations to the members of the bargaining committee,” says UFCW Local 1991P President Mario Maisonneuve. “These are great results for members at Quartier St-Jean, who have not only secured their jobs but have also built a better life," he adds.
