Child care workers at CPE Nez-à-Nez join the union – UFCW 1991P

Granby, Que. – January 23, 2020 – Workers at CPE Nez-à-Nez child care centres in Granby, Quebec are the newest members of UFCW Local 1991P after recently saying “Yes!” to joining the union.

The sixty employees work as educators, nutrition managers, educational and technical consultants, administrative assistants, bookkeepers, and receptionists / secretaries.

They joined UFCW because of our union’s expertise and strength in representing workers in the private sector, including day care employees.

UFCW Local 1991P President Mario Maisonneuve says the CPE Nez-à-Nez workers have chosen the best option for representation in the workplace.

‘‘The CPE Nez-à-Nez members will benefit greatly from the solidarity and support provided by UFCW. We will work hard to ensure that the new members’ rights are respected at work, and we look forward to negotiating a fair first collective agreement,’’ says Maisonneuve.

UFCW Local 1991P represents over 6,000 members at more than 60 companies across Quebec. To learn more about UFCW 1991P, visit the Local Union’s website.
