Health care workers at The Riverine join the union – UFCW 175

Napanee, Ont. – January 14, 2020 – Health care workers at The Riverine retirement care home in Napanee, Ontario are the newest members of UFCW Local 175 after recently saying “Yes!” to joining the union.

Employees at The Riverine reached out to UFCW 175 to gain some of the benefits enjoyed by unionized employees, also represented by Local 175, at another facility owned by the same employer.

Employees had several concerns that brought them to the union, including working conditions. Other issues the employees would like to address through negotiations are wages, benefits, favouritism, seniority, and job security.
