UFCW Votes 2019

Vote to make our country better together.

On October 21, UFCW Canada members and family members can help build a brighter future for all Canadians by voting for what matters most. United, we are better, together.

This election let’s work together to strengthen good jobs and the economy, create affordable child care that works, help combat the effects of climate change, provide pharmacare and dental care for all, and ensure that all workers in Canada are able to retire with dignity.

It is important to elect a government that cares about the issues that matter most to working Canadians.

We can be better together

Together, UFCW Canada members and their family members can have a big impact on the upcoming federal election by talking about the important issues with friends and family, and campaigning to elect a government that defends your interests. Most importantly – make sure you vote! The votes of the more than quarter of a million UFCW Canada members and family members could make the difference in achieving positive change that would helps all Canadians.

Vote for Good Jobs and the Economy

Many people are struggling to find secure, full-time jobs with benefits, and find themselves working multiple precarious jobs just to make ends meet. Workers who are just entering the job force also find themselves in this same situation. We need a government that provides a real plan to boosts the economy and provides fairness at work. We need to vote for good jobs that can make a real difference for Canadian families.

Vote for Retirement Security

Nearly one-third of Canadians approaching retirement have no savings. Together, let's make retirement security a priority when we head to the polls in October. We need to make sure that all Canadians can retire with dignity and respect. We also have to ensure that people are protected when big companies fail, and that money meant for pensions isn't going off to pay corporate CEOs and big banks instead.

Vote for Pharmacare and Dental Care

Many Canadian families are struggling to deal with the rising costs of prescription drugs and dental care, with millions lacking workplace or private benefits to help cover these costs. It’s time to elect a government that puts family health first. By providing pharmacare and dental care we can help combat the cost of rising drug prices, insurance deductibles and increasing co-payments, to create a country where people do not have to choose between their health and other necessities.

Vote for Child Care

As child care costs rise across the country, action on a national childcare strategy is urgently needed. Right now, millions of parents can’t find good, quality affordable child care. This lack of access causes economic hardship and keeps mothers out of the paid labour force, adding to further economic inequality and insecurity.

We need action now, and access to good child care options, to give Canadians the flexibility to find good jobs, pursue an education and build a better life for their families.

Vote on Combating Climate Change

The time to start combating climate change is now. We have seen far too many instances of flooding and forest fires which have displaced many Canadians. We can make the choice to become a more environmentally conscious nation by voting for parties that have our climate in mind and are committed to protecting our air, land and water.
