Montréal – August 19, 2019 - Once again this year, the Montreal Pride festivities and parade were an opportunity for UFCW Quebec activists to share solidarity with members of the LGBTQQQIP2AA+ community.

On Saturday, UFCW Quebec hosted a booth on Montreal Pride’s festive community day, to learn from visitors the challenges that members of the LGBTQQQIP2AA+ community face in their workplace, and to share with them the role of unions in fighting back for equity for all workers.

On Sunday, UFCW Quebec activists joined more than 12,000 participants in the Montreal Pride Parade, to celebrate diversity and march loud and proud through the streets of Montreal while greeting the large crowds along the 2.7-kilometre parade route.

"As a union, our participation in the Pride Weekend is a testament, year after year, to our commitment to the LGBTQQQIP2AA+ community. We are proud to be an ally not only on these two important days, but also throughout the year as we contribute to making workplaces free of discrimination and intimidation," said Antonio Filato, President of the UFCW Quebec Provincial Council and UFCW Local 500.
