Build your skills with new webCampusPLUS courses for summer

Toronto – July 4, 2019 – UFCW Canada's ground-breaking online education program, webCampusPLUS, is launching three new courses this summer that can help you build your skills in stewarding, arbitration, and problem solving at work.

The free online courses are being offered in English and are available to all UFCW Canada members and their family members, as well as our community partners.
The new courses are described as follows:

Advance Stewarding: Being a union steward is not an easy job, as stewards are the eyes and ears in the workplace. This course provides you with the tools needed to listen, communicate, educate, and defend your fellow co-workers. You will also learn strategies for dealing with management during meetings and collective bargaining, and the different steps in the grievance process.

Preparing for Arbitration:  “Anything you say can and will be held against you” is a true statement when it comes to arbitration. It is a mechanism used to settle disputes between the grievor and their employer when the grievance procedure has been exhausted and the parties cannot come to an agreement on a resolution to the problem. This course will de-mystify the process by reviewing the issues that can arise out of interpretation, application, and violations of a collective agreement. It provides you with everything you need to know for heading to arbitration.

Problem Solving:  This course delivers strategies and tactics for building on your existing problem-solving skills by providing “best practice” approaches to solving a wide range of difficult situations. Workers and stewards alike become more effective when they understand the problems they face and have diverse problem-solving skills that they can draw upon.
